An eccentric writer & creator with a methodical approach to world building, penchant for sardonic wit & satire, and an overwhelming desire to defy norms and embrace the strange with loving arms.
Writer, Director,
Tolerator of Existence,
Thinker of Things
Born in Bolingbrook, IL–a Chicago suburb whose most popular pastime was leaving town–Sean had to invent worlds in his head and learn to critique the rest to entertain himself from the mundane maws of concrete suburbia. Graduating from a High School of over 3,500 (Bolingbrook, IL: 70th largest in the nation), Sean often found himself a lone voice in a crowd arguing for patience, empathy and the freedom to be weird. He did “cool” things like soccer, karate, and theater (in no particular order of coolness), and was one of those nerds who actually did all his homework.
To keep from going insane in a land where everything changes yet remains, one had to fashion a Schrodinger state of mind: acknowledging creeping doom while infantilizing its impact and learning to live anyway. Making light of the dark, if at least to normalize discussing its shades, are some of the most powerful tools art & storytelling wield.
Sean graduated from Columbia College Chicago and has forged through the LA trenches ever since on a quest to open minds, broaden empathy, and defy expectations with his writing. Recent successes include his animated pilot, BEYOND KNOTTY GROVE, placing as as Finalist in the 2022 Scriptation Showcase and a Quarter-Finalist in the 2021 Emerging Screenwriters – Genre Screenplay Competition, among others listed on the page “Humble Victories”.
Sean manages to feed this unfortunate writing habit by juggling assistant & coordinator work. He has coordinated on Emmy-winning shows like Netflix’s DARK CRYSTAL AGE OF RESISTANCE and Razzie-winning films like THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS for the Jim Henson Creature Shop, and has assisted with development at Animal Logic Entertainment.
In a broken and combative world, Sean hopes to contribute his sardonic wit to the living-void, using analytical dark humor as a vaccine-of-sorts against bad thoughts. Once you joke about something, it’s like developing emotional immunity, so rather than turn away in denial you can brazenly face the same issue as you laugh back in its face.
